4.  Additional Food Assistance Resources (Recommended)

The following programmes and organisations provide supplementary or complementary food assistance beyond the ‘Together in the Lorongs’ listing. Residents are encouraged to approach these channels if the above programmes do not cover their area or needs.

4.1  Singapore Food Bank

Singapore Food Bank (SFB) is one of the largest food banks in Singapore, redistributing surplus food donations to over 100 social service agencies island-wide. Individuals cannot receive food directly from SFB, but their partner agencies (family service centres, social service offices) can refer beneficiaries.

How to Access: Approach your nearest Social Service Office (SSO) or Family Service Centre (FSC) for a referral to a Food Bank partner agency.

4.2  Social Service Office (SSO) — ComCare Assistance

SSOs administer ComCare short-to-medium-term assistance, which includes grocery vouchers, food assistance referrals, and cash assistance for low-income households. Each SSO serves a specific geographic cluster.

4.3  CDC Vouchers (All Five CDCs)

All five Community Development Councils (CDCs) jointly distribute CDC Vouchers to Singaporean households annually. These can be used at participating hawkers, heartland merchants, and supermarkets island-wide.

How to Claim: Register at go.gov.sg/cdcv with your Singpass. No income criteria — all Singaporean households are eligible. Vouchers are loaded onto a digital wallet.

4.4  Willing Hearts Soup Kitchen

Willing Hearts operates a daily soup kitchen that prepares and distributes over 5,000 meals daily to beneficiaries across Singapore including the elderly, disabled, and low-income families.

Fei Yue provides food assistance to low-income residents in the West of Singapore through regular food packs and festive hampers.

4.6  NTUC FairPrice Community Food Distribution

FairPrice Group periodically organises community food distributions in partnership with People’s Association and community clubs. Their Neighbourhood Food Share initiative (referenced under Telok Kurau) has been expanded to additional locations island-wide.

4.7  Halal-Specific Food Assistance — Mosque-Based Programmes

Numerous mosques island-wide operate their own zakat-funded food assistance and iftar distribution programmes, particularly during Ramadan. These are open to Muslim residents in need.
